Cup Cake Making
Class Wollaton really enjoyed their cupcake making session this week. In maths, they created a net for their box and carefully constructed it. The children had to follow a recipe that they'd scaled down and weighed and measured ingredients to make the perfect mixture! Obviously, their favourite part was the decorating! Hopefully they tasted as good as they looked!
As part of our RE learning, we visited the National Holocaust Centre and followed the journey of a young Jewish boy named Leo growing up in 1930's Berlin. At the end of the visit we all placed a stone onto a huge pile: each stone representing a Jewish child lost to the Holocaust.
What a busy week we've had in Class Wollaton. It was so nice to get out in the sunshine and do some gardening in the Memorial Garden. It's looking much better and a lot tidier now. We planted lots of seeds which are now growing in the greenhouse and replanted several of the pots that were kindly donated.
We also had a First Aid workshop run by the British Red Cross. Here we learnt how to carry out CPR.
On May 18th we finally made our way to Birmingham's Resort Arena to take part in The Young Voices concert. This year marks 25 years of Young Voices concerts. We had a fab time singing, dancing and even attempting a bit of beat-box with the world champions.
This Is Me
Today, as part of our Autism Awareness Week, we celebrated our 'This Is Me' day. We talked about our differences and uniqueness. Some of the children were brave enough to talk about their hobbies and talents and brought in lots of things to show! It was great to learn about each other and celebrate how different we really all are.
