Anushka Vasudevan

My name is Anushka . I recently became a Governor at All Hallows in March 2023. I am a co-opted governor involved in supporting SEND and Mental Health within the curriculum and around the school community.

I became a governor after completing my studies in Mental Health. I felt that from my experience of working in schools and learning about special needs and mental health, I felt that I wanted to be able to support and share what I know with the local community. It also gives me the opportunity to gain more knowledge and experiences, not only from the teaching staff and other governors but from you all as students as well. Although I am new to becoming a governor, I think I will be able to make a positive impact on All Hallows and strive to support everyone at All Hallows (staff, teachers, students and even governors) to reach their full potential and be the best versions of themselves. I feel that mental health and wellbeing is an important part of making All Hallows a happy, healthy and safe school. As a young person myself, I think I am able to connect with children and young people and can suggest some fresh, new ideas that are relevant to this ever-changing society.

As I am new, I have not had many opportunities to get into school, although it is definitely something I would like to do more once I have the chance. I recently started a new job working for Nottingham City council helping children in care find homes. Through this experience I am learning new things about the needs and wants of children and young people and feel as though I am able to use the knowledge and experiences, I am gaining from this job to be able support and offer advice to all at All Hallows. My interests in special educational needs and disability and mental health have been a driving force in encouraging me to take on the role of governor for All Hallows and once I settle in my new job, I would love to take up more opportunities to come into school and meet everyone and get to know more about the school. I would love to hear from you all. I’m really friendly and easy to talk to and I would love hear what you all have to say.
