At All Hallows C of E Primary School, we are committed to creating a nurturing and supportive environment where children, families, and staff work together and thrive. Promoting positive mental health and emotional wellbeing is central to our school ethos and underpins all aspects of our curriculum.
We recognise that good mental health is fundamental to children’s ability to learn, build relationships, and navigate everyday experiences. We see mental health as a child’s overall state of wellbeing—how they think, feel, and respond to the challenges and opportunities of daily life.
A wide range of social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) support is available in school. Further details can be found in our SEND Information Report, which outlines how we support children with additional needs.
We are fortunate to offer ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) support within school, delivered by our trained ELSA, Mrs Stacey Davis
ELSA is a programme designed to support children in understanding and managing their emotions. It recognises that children learn best when they feel safe, happy, and emotionally secure. Support may be provided for children who need help with:
Children are referred to ELSA by school staff when additional emotional support would be beneficial.
We understand that supporting children’s mental health is a partnership between home and school. There are a number of trusted organisations that provide advice, guidance, and practical strategies for supporting children’s wellbeing.
These include:
These services offer guidance on topics such as managing anxiety, building resilience, supporting communication, and strengthening family relationships. Some also provide referral routes for additional support if needed.
