It's been lovely to have everyone back in class. We've been busy getting the garden area cleared and ready for new ideas. We've also made dream catchers which we will use to hang from the trees both in the memorial garden and around our playground.

This week, as part of our Maths, we've been learning to play new card games in order to practise our fluency and reasoning skills. We also completed some of the Natwest Moneysense lessons which taught us all about different methods of payments. We were also set the challenge of purchasing items for our own bedrooms whilst sticking to a budget.

Merry Christmas!

We had a fantastic party day today involving quizzes, games, dancing, art and craft activities. Little elves hung our hand-made stockings around the classroom and filled them with sweets over night.

On Tuesday, we took part in a live Zoom session about Parliament. We learnt how MPs are elected, the differences between the House of Commons and the House of Lords and were able to see inside each. There was then an opportunity to ask questions where we found out even more. Thank you to Miriam and Anouk for teaching us. We performed some drama in our English sessions this week. We reenacted the scene from Roald Dahl's 'Boy.'

In science, we've been learning about the circulatory system. We conducted an experiment into lung capacity and used various ingredients to replicate parts of the blood. What do you think?

Performance Poetry

In English we have been reading Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. As part of this we have created performance poems which are read forwards and backwards to give a different point of view.

We enjoyed a trip our to the Holocaust Museum as part of our WWII topic.

We took a step back in time to Nazi Germany and followed the life of Leo, a young German Jewish boy growing up in 1930s Berlin. Everything changed for him under Nazi rule and eventually, his family made the brave choice to send him to safety in the UK, as a child refugee on the Kindertransport.

We all placed a stone to remember all of the children who lost their lives during this time. We also listened to the story of a Holocaust survivor named Simon- he lived happily with his family until the Nazi invasion of Poland in 1939 and eventually found his way to this country escaping using some of the gold his father had previously hidden inside a scrubbing brush.
